So here we go for my list of Affordable equipment for filmmaker and photographer.
Photography
Fuji X20.
This is the camera I learned photography with, I usually set mine on black and white to do my travel photography. It can be set fully manual and it’s easy to carry around, this is an old model, but you can purchase any models from this affordable series, also his integrated zoom lenses give you a lot of versatility when you are on the field.
Leica D-Lux series.
I do love Leica color science a lot.
This is so far the most affordable/useful Leica camera you can buy on the market. I love to use this camera mostly because of its color science and because you can bring it in your pocket.
It haves an integrated zoom lens that gives you a lot of versatility when you are on the field.
Canon 5D Mark IV.
This is the camera I use for fashion, portraits, and my personal work mostly.
For commercial work I usually switch to medium format, using Phase one or Hasselblad camera.
Canon serie L lenses
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L.
Ideal for close-up and macro shots. Pretty good in low light.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L USM.
I use this lens mostly if I am in a low light situation, it does have a very low aperture.
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM.
I use this lens mostly if I am in a low light situation, it does have a very low aperture.
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM.
One of the lenses I use the most with the 70-200mm, very useful also can do macro if you are on 24mm.
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM.
One of the lenses I use the most with the 24-70mm. I like to shoot fashion photography with this lens, in 200mm I have really great bokeh.
Affordable Cine Lenses
Rokinon Cine DS Lens Kit for Micro Four Thirds Mount Consists of 20mm T1.9 WA Lens, 35mm T1.5 Lens, 50mm T1.5 Lens, 85mm T1.5 Lens, Cleaning Kit.
Probably the most affordable cine lens kit on the market. I use them mostly on my indie projects if we don’t use anamorphic or prime lenses.
You got what you pay for, we actually shot our award-winning movie The Passport with those lenses, and won “best cinematography” in Macao Film Festival 2019.
Lights
Collapsible Multi-Disc Light Reflector with Bag – Translucent, Silver, Gold, White and Black.
Collapsible Multi-Disc Light Reflector with Bag – Translucent, Silver, Gold, White and Black.
There is no more powerful, beautiful and stronger light than the sun itself. Most of my work consists of modeling natural light, reflecting it, re-directing it, filter it and so on.
This reflector will provide you with all the ways you can modify lights, additive or subtractive. It’s definitely a go-to in my kit.
Godox V1-C Flash for Canon
I do like this flash because it has a modeling light and uses rechargeable batteries, I am all for the planet and hate to waste tons of AA battery’s and rechargeable AA aren’t really convergent setup. I advise you to get also an extra battery for this flash plus all the accessories.
Camera Backpack.
Lowepro Flipside 400 AW II Camera Backpack – Black
My go-to for travels, I always carry this bag with me and I can put everything I need in it. Memory cards, filters, cameras, lenses, etc.
Affordable Camera for films.
Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 4.6K (G2)
When I am not shooting on Alexa or Red I love to use this camera, easy to and compact, also got 3 ND filters integrated, you can change the mount and upgrade some parts, it does also shoot slow motion.

This is the plan I get to myself.
You basically can do almost everything, the only limitations are your imagination!

Blackmagic Davinci Resolve Studio
The version I have, it comes for free with almost any Davinci product (Cameras & Tablet). Very affordable and powerful software, I use it mostly for color grading only but it can do much more than that!
